South Carolina residents can register to vote online, by mail, or in person. Same-day voter registration is not available, so be sure to register before the deadline.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of South Carolina.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day (you can pre-register at 17 if you will turn 18 before the next election).
- Not be serving a sentence for a felony or offense against election laws.
- Not have been declared mentally incompetent by a court.
Registration Methods:
- Online Registration:
- Register online through the South Carolina Online Voter Registration Portal.
- You will need a South Carolina driver’s license or state ID.
- By Mail:
- Complete the South Carolina Voter Registration Form.
- Mail the completed form to your county board of voter registration. A list of county addresses can be found on the South Carolina Election Commission website.
- In Person:
- You can register in person at your county board of voter registration, DMV offices, and other state agencies.
Registration Deadline:
- The deadline to register is 30 days before Election Day, whether registering online, by mail, or in person.
