How to Register to Vote in Montana

Montana residents can register to vote online (through a form submission), by mail, or in person. Montana allows same-day voter registration, including on Election Day at polling places.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a resident of Montana for at least 30 days.
  • Be at least 18 years old by Election Day.
  • You are not a convicted of a felony and serving a sentence in a penal institution.
  • You are not judged in a court of law to be of unsound mind.

Registration Methods:

    • Register in person at your local county election office or during voter registration drives.
    • Same-day voter registration is allowed at polling places on Election Day, but be sure to bring proper identification.

Registration Deadline:

  • The regular deadline to register by mail or online is 30 days before Election Day.
  • Late registration is allowed up to and including Election Day, but only in person at your county election office.
