Texas residents can register to vote by mail or in person. Texas does not offer online voter registration for first-time voters, and same-day voter registration is not available, so make sure to register before the deadline.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of the county where you submit your application.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day (you can register at 17 years and 10 months).
- Not be convicted of a felony, unless your sentence has been completed, including parole or probation.
- Not be declared mentally incapacitated by a court.
Registration Methods:
- By Mail:
- Complete the Texas Voter Registration Application.
- Mail the completed form to your county voter registrar’s office. Addresses can be found on the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
- In Person:
- Register in person at your county voter registrar’s office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) offices, or other authorized locations.
Registration Deadline:
- The deadline to register is 30 days before Election Day, whether registering by mail or in person.
