Ohio residents can register to vote online, by mail, or in person. The state does not offer same-day voter registration, so make sure to register before the deadline.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days before the election.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day (you can register as early as 17 if you will turn 18 by Election Day).
- Not be incarcerated for a felony conviction.
- Not have been declared incompetent to vote by a court.
Registration Methods:
- Online Registration:
- Register online through the Ohio Online Voter Registration System.
- You will need a valid Ohio driver’s license or state ID, as well as the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- By Mail:
- Complete the Ohio Voter Registration Form.
- Mail the completed form to your county board of elections. County addresses are available on the Ohio Secretary of State’s website.
- In Person:
- Register in person at your local county board of elections office, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), or other authorized voter registration locations.

- The deadline to register is 30 days before Election Day. This applies whether you register online, by mail, or in person.
